Magpie Collection is a collaboration between HEKA and Lucy Norman of Studio Makecreate. The series was a prediction of the ‘refill revolution’, comprising of luxury glass bottles and containers and tools. Used for storing and refilling beauty products, the vessels and tools ritualise and celebrate a zero waste consumption model.
In homage to magpies and their collections of shiny treasure, used to attract mates, Magpie Collection is designed to be filled and put on display.
Gold-mirrored designs on the glass surfaces reflect the light and cast shadows, creating mesmerising overlapping patterns. The viscosity, colour and texture of different liquids, lotions and powders playfully change the way light refracts and reflects.
The collection is completed with an elegant set of gold-plated, handheld tools. A spoon, sieve, funnel and bottle brush are used for filling and cleaning bottles and containers.
Magpie Collection is a collaboration that continues exploring the theme of beauty and self-sufficiency within projects by HEKA and Lucy’s experiments with pattern and light. The resulting series of products fuse aesthetics and playfulness with functionality and sustainability.
